Brooklyn indie-pop/indie-rnb trio Wet, released their self titled EP in October 2013 on Neon Gold Records. Having previously opened for Chvrches, the pop three piece are set to support London Grammar on their 2015 Australian Tour. They have since announced two headline shows in March, at the Oxford Art Factory in Sydney on March 10 and at Howler in Melbourne on March 13.
The band is comprised by Kelly Zutrau, Martin Sulkow and Joe Valle. Their four track EP Wet boasts the fluid, sugary vocals of Zutrau in the first track Dreams, which is sure to get you swaying from side to side and stupidly smiling like you would at your first high school crush, following the opening line "some days just aren't good for anything at all...". It's simple yet well executed style allows Zutrau to playfully swing from note to note.
Wet's second track You're The Best (above) is mellow, catchy and dreamy and has more of a country/folk sweetheart-sound to it's touching vocals:
"All I know is
I can't focus
On these arms around me
Think of how you found me
Found me in those arms
So large and dark and holding on"
Don't Wanna Be Your Girl, the third track off their EP, is an angelic-yet-moody break up track swarming with emotion but also a sort of sultry breeziness.
Their last track No Lie teeters more towards alternative RnB, with slower repetitive background beats it is a little darker than the previous tracks, but the perfect ending to a short but oh-so sweet debut EP.
While the self titled EP made it's debut on Neon Gold Records in the states in 2013, it was released in Australia in May 2014 via National Anthem, a label that introduced Chvrches and Haim. Preview their debut EP Wet below:
